Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura inaugurated Corfu island’s new pier, at a ceremony held by the island’s port authority, during which she underlined the significance of the cruise sector in Greece.
During her speech, Ms. Kountoura commented on the added value of the terminal, since it will allow the port of Corfu to accommodate more vessels as the island remains among the top destinations selected by prominent cruise companies.
Marine tourism
The minister also stressed that the development of marine tourism in Greece is among the principal objectives of her strategy and that the ministry’s first priority is to enhance the level of services and support infrastructure.
While on Corfu, she had meetings with the island’s town mayor, vice governor and tourism professionals and discussed the island’s main tourism issues.
