Olympic Holidays Commercial Director Photis Lambrianides announced that less well-known Greek islands such as Ithaca, Milos and Tinos have all been added to the Greek holidays specialist’s summer 2016 programme.
He added that their small capacities meant the introduction would have little impact on passenger numbers but showed the strength of the operator’s knowledge of the destination.
Lambrianides said: “We offer all the big destinations, so we’re adding the small islands. The appeal of the small islands is incredible but they are not going to make the difference of tens of thousands of passengers as the bed capacity is so small.”
Accommodation option
He added that although the accommodation option on the three islands was currently purely self-catering, he was hoping to include small hotels and B&B properties as they are contracted.
Other new additions to the brochure include Greece’s second city of Thessaloniki and the mainland resort of Kavala while on the Peloponnese peninsula both Costa Navarino and Pylos are making their debuts.
Lambrianides said the additional product came as Greece becomes increasingly popular again with security-conscious consumers.
Increase in popularity
He noted: “It has seen an increase in popularity in the past couple of years and we believe it will carry on for this year as well. All the ingredients are there to give us the confidence that it should be a good year.”
Lambrianides commented he was also confident Olympic’s low deposit scheme of £49pp plus the £2.50 Atol charge will prove popular in the wake of Christmas when consumers are feeling the pinch.
He added: “Now we’ve introduced a no surcharge guarantee too – which we believe no other major package holiday company offers – it gives agents yet another reason to recommend Olympic Holidays.”
Prices lead in at £199pp for seven nights’ accommodation at a self-catering property in Zante, departing June 5.
