Department of International Relations and EU Affairs of the Directorate of Strategic Planning of the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism official Konstantinos Panagopoulos will go to Brussels from 14 to 16 December to attend a European Commission Tourism Consultative Committee (Advisory Committee on Tourism -TAC) meeting.
According to the provisional agenda, during the meeting the following issues will be discussed:
– Monitoring the work of the European Tourism Forum and recording key priorities of EU tourism policy.
– Information and exchange of views on the implementation of operations in the tourism sector under the COSME program for the 2015-2017 period.
– Promoting actions for sustainable tourism development models in the European Union through the project European Destinations of Excellence (EDEN).
– Virtual Tourist Observatory operation.
– Development and strengthening of the framework for cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
– Information from the Commission on the relationship between tourism and sharing economy and exchange of views on existing legal regimes.
-Reinforcement of cooperation with World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for the further promotion of sustainable and responsible tourism.
– Visa facilitation procedures.
– Use of structural and investment funds for growth and employment in tourism sector for the 2014-2020 period.
