Four “Lobster” nominations in Film Awards

The 2015 European Film Awards will be presented in Berlin on December 12

Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos’ film “Lobster” was nominated in four categories – Best European Film, Best European Director, Best European Actor, Best European Screenwriter – in the 2015 European Film Awards that will be presented in Berlin on December 12.

Lobster premiered officially in Athens on October 22nd, it is Lanthimos’ first English-language, with Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz playing the main characters and has already won the Jury Prize at the 68th Cannes Film Festival.

“Loners” rules

The film is a Greek-Irish-British-Dutch-French production and has been written by Yorgos Lanthimos and his standard co-writer Efthimis Filippou. It is set in the future when single people are taken to The Hotel to find a matching mate in 45 days. If they fail, they are transformed into an animal and sent off into The Woods. In that setting, one man escapes into The Woods and falls in love with a woman, in contrast to the “Loners” rules.
