The Tourism Division of the Rhodes Municipality distributes through its information offices a new brochure entitled “The diving experience”.
The brochure has already been printed in Greek and English, and, during the coming season will be also released in German, French, Italian, Russian, Swedish and Turkish languages, in A3 paper size.
Coastal zones
Its layout was designed under “Pilot project for a Rhodes and Cyprus coastal zones Integrated Management Plan” acronymed ΑΚΤΗ (“Akti” or “Coast” in Greek).
The project was funded by the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme for Greece and Cyprus 2007-2013, and 80% of its budget was covered by the European Union (ERDF) while the remaining 20% by national resources of the two countries.
Marine ecosystems
One side of the brochure explores diving tourism in Rhodes with particular emphasis on the Mediterranean marine ecosystems, landscape, algae, animals and sea wrecks around the island.
The diving schools and dive sites are marked on the map and special reference is made to the Hydrobiological Station of Rhodes, one of the most important modern monuments of the island.
Ideal combination
On the other side, the parameters of the island’s diving experience are analyzed, highlighting its combination of eco-recreational nature, environmental awareness and pure excitement. Rhodes is indeed famous for its marine wealth, outstanding water visibility and clarity, high biodiversity, impressive underwater geological formations, rich ecosystems and protected or rare species that make its sea area ideal for diving.
The diving courses and beaches awarded with blue flags are also listed along with useful information on the diving schools operating on the island. The project was managed by the Directorate of Planning and Organization of the Municipality of Rhodes and the «Praxis Plus Adamantia Karagiannis & Co O.E.” was declared as lowest bidder.
