Entrepreneurship with development of high level manpower, strengthening of exports and a stable taxation environment are the main axes of the new sustainable growth model for Greece according to Economy Minister George Stathakis.
In an interview to the Sunday edition of Avghi newspaper, the minister announced that the new growth program will entail the strategy, framework, means and tools through which the country’s economy will turn to positive growth figures.
Two investment categories
According to Mr. Stathakis, the innovation of the new Economic Growth, Entrepreneurship and Regional Cohesion Law or Development Law (Anaptyxiakos Nomos), consists in its difference from the former general horizontal level, the distinction between two investment categories: The dynamic one (farming, technology, medicine) and the other, already incorporated in the old Development Law, with parallel combination of a number of other tools (subsidies, tax incentives, taxation stability).
The key for the recovery, underlined Stathakis is investment in the strategy of high additional value activities that will make use of the competitive advantage that the country offers, thanks to the large percentage of young university graduates that can support the recovery.
Productive restructuring
As far as productive restructuring and strengthening of competitiveness are concerned, the minister stressed that exports will be supported significantly and foreign investments will be attracted by taxing stability.
“An incentive for a 7-year stable tax environment for those who want to invest for a long-term will be provided” he said.
