British Airways launches new routes to Greece

New, nonstop service between its global hub at London’s Heathrow Airport will be added to Hania on the island of Crete and the southern Peloponnese city of Kalamata, allowing travelers to bypass Athens all together and fly directly to these cities

British Airways has announced new nonstop service to two popular Greek destinations and an increase in flights to existing destinations.

New, nonstop service between its global hub at London’s Heathrow Airport will be added to Hania on the island of Crete and the southern Peloponnese city of Kalamata, allowing travelers to bypass Athens all together and fly directly to these cities.

Direct flights

Both destinations will enjoy a frequency of two direct flights per week and the first flights will take to the skies from April 30, 2016.

Kalamata will be connected twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays between April 30 and September 24.

Hania will be connected twice a week, as well, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

High numbers

Additionally, British Airways will increase its flights to Corfu and Santorini to six and four per week, respectively, in order to cover the high numbers of passengers during the summer period.

British Airways offers year-round service to Athens and existing seasonal service to several Greek destinations, including Kos, Mykonos, Heraklion and Thessaloniki.

More choices

Neil Cottrell, British Airways’ head of network planning, said: “We’re delighted to be offering our customers more choices to popular holiday hot-spots. With so many new routes from London, our customers will have greater choice with even more value-for-money holidays to choose from, whether it’s a family break or a short weekend trip away.

“We know these new holiday routes are going to prove incredibly popular after increasing our number of flights to Mykonos and Santorini earlier this year and we are thrilled we can give our customers an even greater choice of places to get away from it all”, Freddie Stier, British Airways’ Commercial Manager Greece, Turkey and Cyprus, added.
