A1 Travel doubles Greek holidays on offer

A1 Travel holidays,  one of the UK’s fastest growing online travel agents, is continuing its push to increase market share in Greek Island holidays by doubling the number of Greek islands on offer in 2016 and launching a huge marketing campaign.

Next year, it is offering flights, holidays and exclusive hotel deals to 18 destinations in the Greek islands such as the resorts of Rhodes, Crete, Lesbos, Halkidiki, Zante, Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos, Kefalonia, Glyfada, Corfu, Preveza and Samos.

Fully committed

As the firm’s head of commerce Nick Lima told the press: “Doubling advertising spend to Greek islands with the view of increasing sales and passenger numbers illustrates that A1 Travel are fully committed in supporting Greek tourism after a torrid 2015.

Mr Lima continued to explain why the firm had chosen the Greek islands by adding: “Greece is an area that we have identified that has huge growth potential.

Exceptional opportunity

The fact that tourists are travelling less to Egypt, Tunisia and other formally popular North African destinations is creating an exceptional opportunity for the Greek islands.

Temperatures on these islands remain high even during the winter and travel agents like A1 Travel are egaer to negotiate with hotel owners to offer more rooms and beds later into the holiday season.

Ready for growth

The World Travel and Tourism Council also estimates that Greek islands as ready for growth and expects tourism in Greece to have risen by 3.6 percent by the end of this year and continue at a similar rate between now and 2025.

A1 Travels has over 1.2m email subscribers and when it  launches a marketing campaign, a growth in demand is likely to follow.

Big impact

As www.travpr.com comments in a relevant article, “the recent financial crisis has had a big impact in Greece and, as a result, people on the islands are even more welcoming to tourists. It also means that there are some fantastic deals available. Holidaymakers who book far enough in advance are able to stay in five star accommodation, at three star prices.”

It also adds that “tourism is very important to the Greek economy, which is why the government is so supportive of growth in this sector” and underlines that “in 2014, the tourist industry generated 7 percent of the country’s total gross domestic product.”
